EQUIPPING
"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up."
Ephesians 4:11-12

Who has Spiritual Gifts?
The Holy Spirit has endowed each Christian with one or more Spiritual Gift. God has designed life so that when each of us adds our gift to the church community, the community is built up and God's name is honored. As each of us uses our gifts, we are more deeply connected to God and his plan for our life. The words, "service" and "ministry" are synonymous. Each of us are ministers in Jesus' name, as we participate and serve in the life and ministry of the church. Although we are not saved by our works, Jesus himself modeled for us a life of loving servanthood.
How do I know what my gifts are?
Many people find that they are naturally using their gifts in their life both within and outside the church. They feel drawn to the same way of serving and experience joy when they participate in certain activities. We offer the Spiritual Gifts Workshop at NPC to help people either discover their gifts or to confirm and affirm their gifts. The workshop also explores the subject of passion and personal style and how these along with spiritual gifts can be combined into meaningful ministry. The workshop lets you dream a little to listen and hear where God may be moving you.
How do I find meaningful ways to use my gifts?
There are many opportunities to use our gifts within NPC and out in the world. Look at the "NPC Classifieds" and read the "Noroton Notes" for ways to serve. Talk to ministry leaders and pastors about ministry opportunities. Be proactive in trying out new ways to serve. Evaluate how you feel as you use your gifts. Pray and ask God for continued direction. Meet with the Director of Equipping or a member of the Equipping Team for insight and reflection. (click here to view the NPC classifieds)
What is the NPC database and how is it used?
The data base has a description of all of the ministry positions at NPC as well as the skills, interests and gifts of many of the members and friends of NPC. A ministry team may request that we do a data base run for a particular ministry position. The computer matches servants with certain gifts and interests to the position. The team receives a list of potential matches and may call these people to invite them to try out a ministry position. For more information, refer to the booklet, "Inviting People into Ministry".
Join in the fun of ministry! Come and discover the joy and satisfaction of reaching out to love and serve others in God's name. Call me at the church.
