T
he final framework and reach of
Foundations of the
Future
continues to take shape.
In April the Session approved a new Mission Grant
proposal establishing a scholarship fund for Christian stu-
dents identified through our mission partners. We had
already extended a scholarship grant to a young woman
in Gaza, and this new scholarship fund will enable the
Mission Team to assist other Christian students through-
out the world.
The Building Committee is putting the finishing touches
on a building plan to be brought to the Session for ap-
proval. Once approved the plan will be presented to
the Congregation. Members of the congregation who
attended the two information sessions after the 9:00
and 10:30 services on April 14th got a preview of the
comprehensive plan from Brian Smalley, our Building
Committee Chairman. While putting the first shovel in
the ground is still far away, and there are still many steps
to work through, the Building Committee, working with
our architect, has made major progress toward a plan
that addresses as many of our needs and dreams as the
funding will allow.
Behind the scenes the Properties Team has been making
and planning for critically needed repairs to our existing
facilities. In April we were greeted in the Sanctuary by a
new sound system that replaced an aging and failing one.
The new system will provide the capability to customize
the sound to best suit the wide variety of amplification
needs, e.g. sermons, hymns, choir anthems, youth choirs,
instrumentation, etc. Dwayne Condon and the Proper-
ties Team will be working to fine tune the system over
the coming weeks, so the new sound should continue
to improve. The Properties Team is also planning for
the conversion of our heating boilers from oil to natural
gas. This conversion will ultimately allow NPC to re-
duce its energy cost by approximately 50%. Finally, but
importantly, the Properties Team is working with the
Nursery School and Tot Drop to install an intercom and
communication system throughout the CE Wing that
will connect all of the classrooms. This is one piece of
the upgrade to our security plans that NPC is putting in
place in view of the tragedy in Newtown.
Your faithfulness as a congregation has been extraordi-
nary. We have just passed the one year mark on this
three year journey, and giving to
Foundations
already to-
tals 55% of our pledges for the full three years. Through
April 11, 2013
Foundations
has received $6,626,482 of
the $12,000,571 pledged. To God be the glory! This
faithful giving allows the Building Committee to confi-
dently plan for the construction to come in 2014-2015.
The Lord has truly blessed this congregation, and it is a
joy to see that bounty used to His greater glory both
here at the corner of Noroton Avenue and the Post
Road, and around the world.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if
we do not give up.

Sanctuary Sound System
As part of the upgrade of our sound system, a new hearing aid system has
been installed. As at other modern public facilities, this system will automati-
cally connect to the t-coil in most hearing aids making it unnecessary to have
a separate device. It will deliver clearer and more realistic sound with both
music and the spoken word. If you wear a hearing aid with a t-coil,
please sit in the main part of the Sanctuary (not the balcony or chancel)
for best hearing capacity.
