E
very year we try to serve
where we can help meet the
needs of people and partner
with local churches. This year
we made the commitment to
help in the rebuilding efforts from
the devastation of Superstorm Sandy
only six months ago. We believed New Jersey would
be the best place to serve, but because of insurance
restrictions the organizations we were in contact
with were unable to host our group. We are excited
to serve in Staten Island with Third Day Missions,
.
It will be a little different serving only an hour from
home, but I think it will be a great experience to
truly serve our neighbors in need. We will have
the opportunity to help with construction, sort and
distribute donations, demolition, worship, and build
relationships with the people of Staten Island. The
cost for the trip is $200 per person. Scholarship
money is available (make requests directly to me).
We will leave from NPC on Sunday, April 14 at 4:00
p.m. and return Thursday, April 18 at approximately
7:00 p.m. There will be a pre-trip meeting on Sunday,
April 7 at noon in the Shac. This trip is open to all
adults in the NPC family, all students grades 6-12, and
students grades 3-5 with at least one parent attending.
You can sign-up at
.
More detailed information about accommodations will
be available on the website.
I hope you can join us for this great time of service to
our neighbors in need.

April Mission Trip to New Jersey Staten Island!
S
pring is here! Even though
it’s only April, we’re already
busy preparing
for this year’s
VBS. This means
we’re already looking
for volunteers! As
you know, we can’t put on the amazing
program that we do year after year without
a strong volunteer staff of adults and teens.
This year’s VBS is themed
“Athens: Paul’s Dangerous
Journey to Share the Truth”
, and it is from June 23
to June 28, with both morning and evening sessions
that need dedicated youth volunteers. We need crew
leaders, assistant crew leaders, and volunteers for all the
different stations: Bible, Marketplace, Snack, Games,
and many more. If you are going into grade 6 and up,
we’d love to have you apply to be a volunteer! This is
a truly rewarding time, will teach you great leadership
skills and strengthen your own
faith as well. Not only that, but
we offer fun outings
during the week that are
especially for our MS and
HS volunteers. If you’re
interested, please email
Liz Morelli in the Children’s Ministry office
with your name and grade at:
liz.morelli@
norotonchurch.org
. She’ll send you the
appropriate application to fill out. Please be sure to
read the entire application before you complete it, so
you know what you’re signing up for! We can’t wait to
work with you in the coming months to make this VBS
year our best yet.
