I’m Curious about
Joining NPC:
What Happens at a
Membership Class?
Membership classes are interesting,
faith-deepening and fun! Each class
offers an opportunity to praise God
through prayer and song, to strengthen
faith through teachings
by the pastors, to
build community with
others in small group
discussions, and to
enjoy fellowship with
all the participants,
pastors, volunteers and
staff.
Here’s what recent new members shared after taking the
class and joining NPC:
• I found the class to be very thorough and informative.
• I thought the program was both edifying and fun.
• What a great experience. We met some really nice
people and felt very welcome. The format was perfect
with the large group discussions and then the break
off to smaller groups. I also liked the informal, personal
approach.
• I think it was a great time to gather. I also appreciate
the flexibility with scheduling. I am thankful to be part
of this new family and grow stronger in my relationship
with Christ, but more importantly to bring others into
this family as well.
We also provide an easy way
for new members to become
involved in service shortly after
joining; we ask the last class to
bring tasty snacks for the next
new member class!
If you’d like more information on
what is covered in a typical new
member class, are thinking of joining but keep finding an
obstacle, or would like to register for the next class (May
18, Noon to 5:30), please contact me.
What if I’m Already a Member:
Does This Concern Me?
I’d like to ask each of you to remember back to when you
took your own membership vows and how you felt then;
it’s a special time when you take another step closer to
Christ.
The number one reason people come to a church
is because of a personal connection! We all play an
important part in warmly welcoming visitors and initiating a
relationship that leads toward membership at NPC. Please
challenge yourself to reach out to neighbors, friends, family,
and co-workers to invite them to worship, Bible study or a
fun congregational event.
Volunteers who help
with the New Member
Class consistently tell
me how fulfilling and
rejuvenating it is to get
to know those joining,
to learn about their
faith backgrounds and
family, and to be part of
the team that welcomes them into discipleship at NPC.
Many talents are needed for each class such as hospitality,
photography, small group
facilitation, and leading
music. I encourage you
to call me to find out
the different ways you
can grow your own faith
through service to new
members.
